Kiddy Caring Basic School Water Woes Solved by Crichton Automotive and Insurance Donation of a 1000 Gallon Water Tank

Managing Director of Crichton Automotive and Crichton Insurance Agency recently donated a 1000 gallon water tank to Kiddy Caring Basic School. Not only will this project provide teachers and students with clean water, but it will also provide children with the opportunity to receive a better education. It has been documented that a lack of clean water and proper sanitation facilities has kept hundreds of children from attending school in Jamaica.

A report released in 2010 by the U.N.’s Children’s Fund (UNICEF) revealed that children across the world miss almost 300 million school days due to diarrhea. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), diarrhea is the cause of approximately 760,000 deaths of children under the age of five every year, making it the second leading cause of the high child mortality rate, which is why gaining access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene through this rainwater harvesting project is crucial for all developing countries.

Understanding the great need and wishing to do its part, the staff of Crichton Automotive and Crichton Insurance Agency came together to help at least one school with its water woes.

Mrs. Melrose Wizzard, Care Taker and Mrs. Jenevive Britton, Principal (L-R) along with a few students at the Kiddy Caring Basic School expressed with gratitude and gracious acceptance the generous and much needed donation. They stated that the tank is a welcome addition to the school’s educational system.
